16 - More Museum Moments

Welcome to Gay Travel Today! I’m Teraj and I’ll be your guide as we explore, engage and indulge in the world of LGBTQ+ travel today.

Social and physical distancing has made us all realize so many things that we have taken for granted. For me, sometimes it could as simple as taking a Saturday trip to the museum. It takes me away from my day to day and provides so much inspiration. There’s something about the experience of a museum when I’m viewing art, everything around me just disappears except what I’m viewing. If you’re also missing those trips to the museum, we got you covered. Like the Tate Museum in London, museums all over the world are now putting their collections online. You can embark on a museum crawl hopping from New York all the way to New Zealand from the comfort of your screen. A few museums you can now experience online include The Smithsonian, The Louvre, Anne Frank House and Hermitage, and there are many more. Until we’re able to physicallly visit museums again, this is an option I’ll gladly take advantage of. What are some of your favorite museums and exhibits that you traveled to and which ones do you plan to revisit online? Share it with us on social media by hashtagging #GayTravelToday and also #Sagitravel.

15 - Speak Your Mind with Face Masks

Welcome to Gay Travel Today! I’m Teraj and I’ll be your guide as we explore, engage and indulge in the world of LGBTQ+ travel today.

During the month of May, airline policies will go into effect requiring passengers to wear face masks in flight. This more than likely will become the new norm due to COIVD-19, but don’t let it upset you because it’s for all of our protection. In a sea of bland and boring masks, this might be a cool time to express yourself and get creative, as I’ve seen a lot of awesome personalized masks on social media. I’ve seen some that made bold statements and others that have supported organizations, causes and even sports teams, and this could also be a moment to show your colors. If you feel emboldened and want to create your own personalized mask, we’d love to see a photo of your creation on social media. So share it by hashtagging #GayTravelToday and also #Sagitravel.

14 - Step Up Your Online Brunch

Welcome to Gay Travel Today! I’m Teraj and I’ll be your guide as we explore, engage and indulge in the world of LGBTQ+ travel today.

If you’re missing your friends and those weekend catch-ups over omelettes and unlimited mimosas, it’s relatively easy to replicate those boozy brunches at home while supporting local restaurants affected by COVID-19. Here’s a few steps to get those bottomless mimosas flowing. First, you gotta make it official and send a virtual brunch invite to your friends. Send it via Paperless Post or another digital invite platform. Next up, you gotta set a date and time and then direct them to the local restaurant that you’re supporting and be sure to send them a link to the menu. Then, all you have to do is go live on Zoom and cheers your friends as you brunch it up. Social connection while physical distancing is especially crucial for us as human beings as we’re wired for relationships and companionship. By having virtual Zoom brunches you’re not only supporting local restaurants but you might be helping a friend in dire need of social connection during these times. If you’re already having virtual brunches with your friends, go ahead and send us some of your tips too. Feel free to share a screenshot of you brunching it up and #GayTravelToday and also #Sagitravel.

13 - Travel Planning Eases Pandemic Stress

Welcome to Gay Travel Today! I’m Teraj and I’ll be your guide as we explore, engage and indulge in the world of LGBTQ+ travel today.

Do you catch yourself these days often daydreaming about an epic getaway? Let me tell you, you’re definitely not alone. This might be an excellent time to start planning your next dream vacation. There’s so many amazing deals available if you book now for travel later. Many resorts, hotels, and airlines have less restrictive cancellation policies that you can take advantage of right now. If you’re like me, it might be hard to imagine planning something so far in advance, but there are some benefits. Having something to look forward to and be excited about can boost your mental health and outlook during this pandemic. Bring your partner and friends into the fold to make it a fun activity planning this epic trip. If you really do your research you can strategically support the LGBTQ+ community in the travel industry and in the process discover some fantastic gay-friendly destinations and gay-owned businesses. Imagine a trip to Puerto Rico, dipping your toes in the sand and then walking the streets of Old San Juan while experiencing Puerto Rico’s vibrant LGBTQ culture. And then take a short road trip over to Rincón and have an incredible dinner at the intimate and lesbian-owned Italian restaurant, Mangia Mi. So what dream vacation are you planning for your post-COVID-19 celebration? We’d love to see a photo on social media, so share it and #GayTravelToday and also #Sagitravel.
