27 - Explore These Cozy Bookstores

Welcome to Gay Travel Today! I’m Teraj and I’ll be your guide as we explore, engage and indulge in the world of LGBTQ+ travel today.

One of the things that really adds personality to a destination are its markets, mom and pop shops and bookstores. They say so much about the community and people who live there, and you can experience that and more without needing to head on a plane or even leave you living room. There are more than 25 different bookstores that are still keeping their doors open to book enthusiasts – well virtually, anyways. Some of these different iconic shops include the Harvard Bookstore in Cambridge, Last Bookstore in Los Angeles, The Bookshop in Sydney and Attic Books in Ontario. A lot of these shops have an LGBTQ+ focus and are selling both new, used and vintage novels and collections. So now when we have time to cozy up with a new story, shop local in a safe, remote way no matter where you are in the world! Let us know what book you’re reading by using the hashtags Gay Travel Today and Sagitravel.

26 - Add Northern England to Your Bucket List

Welcome to Gay Travel Today! I’m Teraj and I’ll be your guide as we explore, engage and indulge in the world of LGBTQ+ travel today.

Just because travel has slowed doesn’t mean you can’t add to your list of future destinations. I have another one here that you’ll have to explore! The sights, sounds, tastes and hospitality of Northern England is one for the books, and the LGBTQ+ scene is that much more lively. Home to some of the largest annual pride celebrations, Liverpool, Blackpool, Leeds and Manchester are home to a number of fun bars, restaurants, museums, theatres, markets and bookshops that are home to all things pride. One of these places is the British Music Experience where the outfits, original lyric sheets and other goodies from British gay icons like Elton John, Freddie Mercury, and George Michael can be found. Even taking a ferry to take in the sites of the Liverpool waterfront is a sight to take in. If you’ve visited any of these areas, let us know about the little places you’ve discovered and hashtag it Gay Travel Today and Sagitravel.

25 - Vacay Via Your Taste Buds

Welcome to Gay Travel Today! I’m Teraj and I’ll be your guide as we explore, engage and indulge in the world of LGBTQ+ travel today.

Although you may not be able to go the bars of New York for a Cosmopolitan or the beautiful beaches of Cozumel for a Sea Breeze, that doesn’t mean you can’t prepare these cocktails from the comfort of your own home. One thing that reminds me of my travels are the flavors – whether that was cocktail, a meal or dessert, kicking back and experiencing the taste of a vacation cuisine or drink can send me back in time. Because travels have been reduced and socializing at restaurants and bars has been postponed, what’s stopping you from captivating the same feeling by traveling via your glass or dinner plate? Whether your drinking a mojito to capture your Caribbean escape or spaghetti carbonara to reminisce in Italy, maybe try traveling with your tastebuds – no passport required! Share your drink and food recipes with us by using the Gay Travel Today and Sagitravel hashtags.

24 - Show Your Black Pride for DC

Welcome to Gay Travel Today! I’m Teraj and I’ll be your guide as we explore, engage and indulge in the world of LGBTQ+ travel today.

DC Black Pride has been held annually during the Memorial Day Weekend for the past 3 decades to celebrate the African-American lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. DC Black Pride, presented by the Center for Black Equity, which is is a coalition of Black Pride organizers formed to promote a multinational network of LGBT Prides and community-based organizations say the event will be rescheduled for 2021 and according to their official website that says the celebration will be even bigger than ever! Although the celebration has been postponed, and we could not travel and meet up in Washington, D.C. this year, that doesn’t mean your support for DC Black Pride also needs to be delayed. I encourage you to get involved with this great organization that positively affects the lives of men and women through celebrations of black pride around the globe by donating to their cause at BlackPride.org or get involved by signing up as a volunteer. Also be sure to like and follow them on Facebook at DCBLKPride. Have you attended a DC Black Pride event before? 23 - Moving Pride Online

Welcome to Gay Travel Today! I’m Teraj and I’ll be your guide as we explore, engage and indulge in the world of LGBTQ+ travel today.

We are coming up on the month of June, and you know what that means? Celebrating Pride will shift into high gear! Although the current state of the coronavirus pandemic has presented many obstacles, it hasn’t stopped the LGBTQ+ community from coming up with alternatives to go all out – even in the age of social distancing. Some of these pride events include “Global Pride,” which organizers are currently facilitating to stream across social media and other online platforms to show solidarity, strength and community during a time that we need it most. Other Pride month events include the virtual Queer Liberation March. Although the details of this are still in the works, one thing is for certain – coronavirus is not going to stop us from celebrating Pride! Which virtual event do you plan to join? Let us know by tagging Gay Travel Today and Sagitravel.
