10 - LGBTQ+ Safest & Most Dangerous Travel

Welcome to Gay Travel Today! I’m Teraj and I’ll be your guide as we explore, engage and indulge in the world of LGBTQ+ travel today.

This is certainly more on the controversial side, but the 2019 travel destinations are in and Nigeria has ranked as the world’s most dangerous country for LGBTQ+ travel. Next on the list is Qatar, followed by Yemen, Saudi Arabia and Tanzania. Also on the list and not too far behind are popular tourist destinations Barbados, St. Lucia, and Maldives. This is all according to the newly created LGBTQ+ Danger Index, which ranks 150 of the world’s most visited countries. So where’s the safest place to go for LGBTQ+ travelers? Ranking at #1 is Sweden, closely followed by Canada, Norway, Portugal, Belgium, and the UK. All of which are well known for being incredibly welcoming to LGBTQ+ travelers. Which country have you traveled to that made you feel the most safe and welcomed? And do you have a different experience of a country that’s listed on the LGBTQ+ Danger Index? Be sure to share it with us on social media and #GayTravelToday and also #Sagitravel.

9 - Celebrating Milestones While Staying Put

Welcome to Gay Travel Today! I’m Teraj and I’ll be your guide as we explore, engage and indulge in the world of LGBTQ+ travel today.

Social distancing and restrictions on movement may currently be altering how we celebrate important milestones, birthdays, and anniversaries with our partners. I can imagine that a lot of us have to think outside of the box to celebrate such special occasions during these times. Here’s a few ideas you could try to spice up those stay-at-home special occasions. Pop open Epicurious or a trusted cookbook and try to re-create a favorite meal from one of your past vacations or travels. Make the occasion even more special by adding music that sets the mood and takes you and your partner back to that place and time. Attention is in the detail, so you might want to go all out, dress up, and light some candles to relive those memorable moments. If you try any of these at home, we’d love to see a photo or video on social media. So share it and #GayTravelToday and also #Sagitravel.

8 - Warhol Whole New Perspective at Tate

Welcome to Gay Travel Today! I’m Teraj and I’ll be your guide as we explore, engage and indulge in the world of LGBTQ+ travel today.

The Tate Museum in London has turned its exhibit of queer icon and pop artist Andy Warhol’s work into a virtual online experience. The exhibit was only open for five days before it was shutdown due to COVID-19. Instead of just leaving the exhibit in lockdown, The Tate Museum decided to release it on the World Wide Web for all to see and it’s pretty powerful. Traveling to this exhibit in London is as easy as a click on your screen to be transported to view Warhol from a whole new perspective. This bold exhibit shines a light on some of his works lesser known than the “Campbell Soup Can” paintings and presents Warhol through the unique lens of his immigrant story, queer identity, and his views on death and religion. To view it, visit Tate on YouTube and search for Andy Warhol at Tate Modern – Exhibition Tour. Show us your favorite work by Andy Warhol on social media. Share it and #GayTravelToday and also #Sagitravel.

7 - Binge On These Gay Travel Favorites

Welcome to Gay Travel Today! I’m Teraj and I’ll be your guide as we explore, engage and indulge in the world of LGBTQ+ travel today.

Now, it isn’t news that everyone’s travel plans have been delayed or postponed until further notice. To help us get through these times, we can still live out our gay travel fantasies by binge watching some of these all-time favorite LGBTQ-themed movies. These movies showcase gorgeous backdrops, beautiful scenery, and may or may not include traveling. If you haven’t already added these to your watchlist, then go ahead and add these to the queue: Brokeback Mountain, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Transamerica, Y Tu Mamá También, A Crimson Mark, Seashore, and August. And I’ll throw in a couple more recent binge worthy TV shows: Queer Eye Japan, Dragnificent, and Pose. Even if just for a few hours, hopefully those recommendations will transport your mind to another place, especially for those using their vacation days for a stay-at-home staycation. Tell us on social media about your favorite LGBTQ-themed movies and TV shows. Feel free to even share a screenshot of what you’re watching. 6 - Major Announcement From Miami Beach

Welcome to Gay Travel Today! I’m Teraj and I’ll be your guide as we explore, engage and indulge in the world of LGBTQ+ travel today.

I’m excited because we have a major announcement today. Virtual Pride celebrations are here and more are coming your way. There’s an amazing announcement confirming the collaboration of Miami Beach Pride, Pride Fort Lauderdale, Compass Palm Beach Pride, Wilton Manors Stonewall Pride Parade and Street Festival, and Gay 8 Festival. They’ve all come together and masterminded a festival called the “Prides of South Florida”. It’s gonna be a virtual festival fundraiser event benefiting our community in COVID-19 relief efforts. All funds raised will be donated to charity organizations related to the LGBTQ+ community dealing with complications due to the coronavirus. So mark your calendars and get ready to show your pride on May 9th and 10th and prepare for an amazing Pride event and a fantastic lineup. I’m excited to announce that I’ll be performing a couple of songs during this festival and I’ll be sharing more details with you soon. Have any of you out there ever celebrated Pride in Florida? If so, let us know on social media which city and tell us all about your fun in the “Sunshine State” Pride moment. So share it and #GayTravelToday and also #Sagitravel.
