50 - IGLTA Travel Survey Results Are In!

Welcome to Gay Travel Today! I’m Teraj and I’ll be your guide as we explore, engage and indulge in the world of LGBTQ+ travel today.

The results are in! Recently, the International LGBTQ+ Travel Association surveyed 15,000 LGBTQ+ community members to gauge attitudes and sentiments toward leisure travel with the current state of COVID-19, and the findings are quite interesting! Although the LGBTQ+ community is known to travel more frequently compared to others, the survey found that 66% of respondents felt comfortable with leisure traveling this year, with the most popular choices being September and October. The survey also concluded that nearly half of the respondents would not change their travel destinations after the pandemic has been resolved, which reflects a high level of destination loyalty within the community. Other statistics regarding Pride event attendance, different types of flights, and domestic versus international can all be found by checking out the “IGLTA Post-Covid-19 LGBTQ+ Travel Survey.” Let us know know your travel plans for the rest of 2020 by using the hashtags #GayTravelToday and #Sagitravel.

Welcome to Gay Travel Today! I’m Teraj and I’ll be your guide as we explore, engage and indulge in the world of LGBTQ+ travel today.

With more cities opening up and loosening coronavirus restrictions it can be hard to determine how “back to normal” you should go. Health experts stress that you should still remain careful if and when you decide to go out and about – a pandemic is no time to put your guard down. While we know now that the chances of catching the COVID-19 virus are reduced outside compared to an enclosed space, there are certain precautions you can take. When navigating outside, health experts recommend that you’re better off going alone or only with the people in your quarantine bubble to minimize your risk. Making sure you maintain a safe proximity from those around you and wearing a mask is also equally as important. Also, make sure to develop a logistics plan for getting to your destination, being at your destination and returning back home. Having a plan and the right items on hand to make the journey will ensure that you are staying safe and keeping those around you safe. By now I’m sure you have a favorite mask! 47 - More LGBTQ+ Love Needed Now

Welcome to Gay Travel Today! I’m Teraj and I’ll be your guide as we explore, engage and indulge in the world of LGBTQ+ travel today.

Recently, OutRight International published a report detailing COVID-19’s hit on the LGBTQ+ community around the world. The study found seven areas of oppression that have directly affected the LGBTQ+ community during this crisis. Some of the areas include devastation to their livelihood, increased food insecurities, disruptions in healthcare, increased risk of violence, isolation and anxiety and a number of other disheartening hardships. Without the ability to gather in safe spaces like LGBTQ+ bars, clubs and event celebrations, many fear the community will lose visibility and the movement will slide backwards. But there are many ways that both you and I can help. Since many LGBTQ+ organizations are facing hardships, find ways to assist through funding, donating supplies or lending a helping hand. Following LGBTQ+ organizations on social media can help spread their messages to help others in need! Helping can also be as simple as checking up on your friends during this hard time of social isoloation. How are you going to help the LGBTQ+ community this week?
