Welcome to Gay Travel Today! I’m Teraj and I’ll be your guide as we explore, engage and indulge in the world of LGBTQ+ travel today.

“Feeling adventurous? Out Traveler released a list of five adventure films that are equally as stunning as they are awakening to the spirit of wanderlust. Want to follow a worldwide travel story? Try watching “Weit: The Story of a Journey Around the World,” which documents Patrick Allgaier and Gwendolin Weisser’s journey through Europe, Asia, North America and Central American all without a plane ticket. Or try taking a more zeroed in approach by watching “”Meru,”” a documentary style film about three rock climbers who in two separate attempts, scaled 4,000 feet to climb Mount Meru in the Indian Himalayas. These films do a great job of providing jaw dropping beautiful landscapes but also showcasing the culture of each unique space. What’s your favorite adventure film? 53 - Will LGBTQ Community Be First To Embrace Travel Again?

Welcome to Gay Travel Today! I’m Teraj and I’ll be your guide as we explore, engage and indulge in the world of LGBTQ+ travel today.

The LGBTQ+ community will most likely be the first to embrace travel and safely go back to their destination-savvy status quo. A survey conducted by Harris Poll found that the LGBTQ+ appetite to return to travel outnumbered the population at large, with 51% of LGBTQ+ adults expecting to travel for vacation during 2020 versus 46% of non-LGBTQ+ adults. Even during the Memorial Day holiday last month, 8% were willing to plan travel, versus 4%. Why? Experts say there are factors such as more disposable income and discretionary time, but also travel for our community is a way for us to independant and liberated. In many ways it’s built into our culture. Traveling during this time certainly comes with its health challenges and navigating new guidlines can be difficult. This year is your year to explore and Pride Hop. 51 - International Travel Destinations Begin To Open

Welcome to Gay Travel Today! I’m Teraj and I’ll be your guide as we explore, engage and indulge in the world of LGBTQ+ travel today.

International travel is still a sore subject for many, and although non-essential travel isn’t advised by most governments, a few destination hotspots are beginning to loosen the rein on their COVID-19 lockdown protocols. If you’re eager to begin traveling once again, an article put out by CNN Travel lists a number of hotspots such as Cyprus, Bali, Thailand, France and Greece that will be welcoming tourists to their regions soon. For example, the Carribean islands are preparing to open their travel gates this month, and other countries like Mexico and Thailand are anticipating an official open as well. The Cypriot government has even gone as far as to say it will pay for lodging, as well as food, drink and medication for tourists who are taken ill with coronavirus during their visit. Check out the list by searching, “Which international destinations are reopening to tourists?” in your browser. Let us know how you’re feeling about international travel, and if you’ll be visiting any of these locations by using the #GayTravelToday and #Sagitravel hashtags.
