Welcome to Gay Travel Today! I’m Teraj and I’ll be your guide as we explore, engage and indulge in the world of LGBTQ+ travel today.
San Francisco and Orlando are often hailed for being hubs for the LGBTQ+ community, but did you know that Florida’s Greater Fort Lauderdale is a hidden gem for diversity and inclusion? Known as the LGBTQ+ capital of the world, Greater Fort Lauderdale serves as one of the most progressive destinations in the U.S. This city, situated in Broward County, welcomes 1.5 million LGBTQ+ travelers annually and is home to the highest concentration of same-sex households and gay-owned business in the country. Speaking of diversity, 58% of Greater Fort Lauderdale’s local population are POC, with 79% of its residents originally from Latin America. The area is also home to many cultural hotspots, like that in Wilton Manors, where there are gay-owned restaurants, boutiques, gourmet coffee shops, flea markets and museums.
